Fantastic news from two schools we work with. Both have recently been inspected by Ofsted and been graded ‘Outstanding’, with praise for enterprise and curriculum innovation. Both schools have invested in the professional development of teachers and harnessed enterprise as a driver for school improvement. Herringthorpe Infant School in Rotherham, which recently improved from good to outstanding, is in an area of serious deprivation but harnesses enterprise to create a culture of high expectations and challenge. The school has worked with Ready Unlimited to develop entrepreneurial learning for all children in school. For example, foundation children sell the eggs laid by the chickens they look after, Year 1 children design packaging for the eggs and Year 2 children calculate the costs and profits of the enterprise. Inspectors praised this approach, saying it made school ‘a rich and memorable experience’ for children. Click here to read the report.
Tealby Primary School in Lincolnshire, which started working with Ready Unlimited in 2012, was recently judged to have improved from good to outstanding. Its report said: “The school gives pupils rich and stimulating learning experiences, and the innovative range of topics and themes helps to motivate pupils and contributes strongly to their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.” Click here to read the full report.
Many congratulations to Lynne Pepper and staff at Herringthorpe and Denise Popplewell and staff at Tealby!
